Lesson concept:

 

In my classroom, I offer a wonderful musical arts experience in a professional and lively atmosphere that cultivates a lifelong passion for playing the piano. While I provide private piano lessons to students from age 3 to adult beginner students, I also teach advanced learners.

 

I hope my students will feel the great pleasure through piano performances. I belive that each person has an unique music inside of his/her heart, and through that gift of music, every person can beome a happier, more confident and more creative person!  Let's enjoy to play the piano with beautiful sounds you make.

 

  • My goal as a teacher is to help students to enjoy playing the piano throughout their life. In order to achieve that, I have a variety of repertoire that they can choose. My studio is only 3 minute-walk from Kyodo station on Odakyu-line or 7 minute-walk from Miyonosaka station on Setagaya-line.
  • I have a deep understanding of American standard piano education.
  • I studied under several brilliant musicians, including Gorgy Sandor, who was a famous pupil of Bartók and Koday. 
  • Note-reading, sight-reading, music theory can be included in lessons.  

The Lesson Day:

 

Private piano lessons are currently avilable on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 18:00pm. Lessons are scheduled once a week. On average, students receive 42 weekly lessons a year.

 

Lessons are available for students from ages 3 to adult.(for adult students: only women are acceptable).

 

Makeup Lessons:

 

Students who cancel a lesson and report it at least 24 hours in advance are allowed to make up the lesson only once a month. 

 

Lesson Fee:

The fee for the people who need lessons in English is ¥11,000 per month(30 minutes for each lesson /42 times a year)and the one-time admission fee is ¥10000 for all students. 

 

Trial Lesson:

Please try my lesson once. The Trial Lesson is just 1,000 yen.

In addition, if you decide to continue my lessons, this trial lesson fee will be refunded at the first lesson.

Home instrument for  practice:

Keyboards and Pianica are not allowed.

Please prepare an acoustic piano(recommended) or an electronic piano(88keys) at home.


Profile

 

 

Emiko has been a piano teacher since 1992, started in NY city. She received a Bachelor Degree of piano performing from Manhattan School of Music.  

 

After graduating from MSM, she provided piano lessons for American students from age 4 to adult in Tokyo.

 

Emiko studied piano performance with Shun Sato, Gyorgy Sandor, P.Kawin, Tomomi Orui, and Chamber Music with J.Cohen.

(Prof. Sandor studied the piano with Bartok at the Liszt Conservatory, and the Compositions with Koday).

 

In 1991, she won the 3rd prize at Music Competition in Westchester NY.

 

She held few piano recitals while she was studying abroad. After returning to Japan, she performed few ensemble concerts and several solo recitals. She also performed at the summer music festival in Switzerland

(2002), and Ogikubo Music Festival (2015). 

 

She also accompanied vocal and violin.

In addition, she gives volunteer concerts at kindergartens, public facilities, etc.

 

Now having relocated to the music studio in Kyodo Setagaya Tokyo, she has more time available for new students.

 

Lessons are available both in English and Japanese: one to one private lesson. Let's enjoy music!

The studio is located only 3 minute-walk from Kyodo station on Odakyu-line or 7minute-walk from Miyanosaka station on Setagaya-line.

 

 Coin Parking is available in front of the studio. Bicycle can be parked for free.
